Jennifer Lawrence is an Academy Award winning American actress. First attracted attention in the television series “The Bill Engvall Show” (TBS, 2007–2009), the Louisville, Kentucky native beauty amazed critics in the indie dramas “The Burning Plain” (2008) and “Winter's Bone” (2010), the latter of which also brought her nominations at the Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, Satellite Award, Independent Spirit Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress. At age 22, Lawrence eventually took home the Best Actress Oscar, plus Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, Satellite Award and the Independent Spirit Award, amongst other honors, thanks to her bright turn as widowed Tiffany Maxwell on the romantic comedy “Silver Linings Playbook” (2012). The talented actress is also known for her roles on the hit films “X-Men: First Class” (2011) and “The Hunger Games” (2012).
After spending the first few years of her career in New York City, Lawrence decided to move to California and now lives in Santa Monica. She met British actor boyfriend Nicholas Hoult on the set of “X-Men: First Class.” They began dating in 2011 but split in early 2013. The two has since rekindled their romance.

Jennifer Lawrence was born Jennifer Shrader Lawrence on August 15, 1990, in Louisville, Kentucky. Her father, Gary Lawrence, owned concrete construction firm Lawrence & Associates, while her mother, Karen Lawrence, ran a children's camp. She has two older brothers, Blaine and Ben, and a sister in-law named Meredith. She studied at Kammerer Middle School in Kentucky and graduated from high school two years early with a 3.9 average in order to launch an acting career.
Jennifer, known to her friends and family as Jen, acted in several local theater productions before being spotted in New York City when she was 14 years old. She later moved to Los Angeles to further pursue her acting career. Prior to becoming an actor, Jen took part in cheer-leading, softball, field hockey and modeling.

Jennifer Lawrence made her television movie debut in CBS' “Company Town” (2006), opposite Sherry Stringfield. She went on to land guest spots in television series like “Monk” (2006), “Cold Case” (2007) and “Medium” (2007) and also shot a TV pilot called “Not Another High School Show” (2007), opposite John Keefe, Jocelin Donahue and Rachel Specter. Lawrence took her first series regular role as Bill Engvall's disobedient teen daughter on the TBS sitcom “ The Bill Engvall Show,” which starred comedian Bill Engvall and was written and created by Engvall and Michael Leeson. The series ran from July 17, 2007 to September 25, 2009. For her work on the series, she won the Young Artist Award for Outstanding Young Performers in a TV Series, which she shared with co-stars Skyler Gisondo and Graham Patrick Martin, and was nominated for the Young Artist Award in the category of Best Performance in a TV Series (Comedy or Drama) - Supporting Young Actress.
Lawrence moved on to the big screen when she appeared as Tiff in “Garden Party” (2008), a drama film directed by Jason Freeland and starring Vinessa Shaw and Willa Holland. Her first major film role arrived when she was cast as Agnes in the feature film directorial debut of Lori Petty, “The Poker House” (2008), a drama focuses on the dysfunctional life of three sisters. The role brought her a Los Angeles Film Festival for Outstanding Performance. The same year, Lawrence received critical reviews for her scene stealing role as Kim Basinger's tormented teenage daughter on the Guillermo Arriaga drama “The Burning Plain.” She took home the Marcello Mastroianni Award at the 2008 Venice Film Festival for her performance.
Two years later, Lawrence delivered a breakthrough performance as Ree Dolly, a hard-bitten country girl who goes in search of her missing drug-dealing, deadbeat father, in the critically acclaimed independent drama “Winter's Bone,” which is an adaptation of Daniel Woodrell's 2006 novel of the same title. Under the direction of Debra Granik, she received a 2011 Academy Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama. Lawrence co-starred with Anton Yelchin and Felicity Jones in the romantic drama “Like Crazy” (2011), which won the Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize, and portrayed Norah,the love interest with a secret of Porter Black (played by Anton Yelchin) in the dark comedy “The Beaver” (shot in 2009, released in 2011), starring Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson. She also played the role of shape-shifting villain Mystique on the prequel to the “X-Men” film series “X-Men: First Class” (2011), opposite James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Rose Byrne. In 2012, Lawrence landed the starring role of franchise heroine Katniss Everdeen on “The Hunger Games,” an adaptation of the 2008 best-selling young adult novel by Suzanne Collins. Helmed by Gary Ross, the film was a big box office victory by grossing over $691 million worldwide against its budget of $78 million. It became the third highest grossing film in the United States and ninth highest grossing worldwide of the year. Lawrence will have the title role in the upcoming drama film “Serena,” opposite “Silver Linings Playbook” co-star Bradley Cooper. The film is set to be released in Russia on October 31, 2013. She will reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen in the 2013 sequel “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and will play Rosalyn Rosenfeld in David O. Russell's “American Hustle” (2013), opposite Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner and Robert De Niro.
