She is known for her roles on the television shows “Bones” (2010-2011) and “Vikings” (2013 -?) as well as on films like “50 First Dates” (2004), “Two Weeks Notice” (2002),“Amusement” (2008), “Love & Other Drugs” (2010), “Killers” (2010), “A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III” (2012) and “The Art of the Steal” (2013). She won a New York International Independent Film & Video Festival Award and a Beverly Hills Film Festival Award for performances in the short films “Daddy's Little Girl” (2002) and “Children of the Air” (2012), respectively, and received a Gotham nomination in the film “Cold Souls” (2009).

Katheryn Winnick was born Katerena Anna Vinitska on December 17, 1977, in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada. She spoke Ukrainian as her first language and did not start speaking English until she was 8. She studied acting at New York's William Esper Studio.
An accomplished martial artist, Katheryn initiated her training at 7 and got her first black belt at 13. She won silver medals at the Canadian National Tae Kwon Do finals. Currently, she holds a 3rd-Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, a 2nd-Degree Black Belt in Karate, and is a licensed bodyguard. Katheryn opened her first martial arts studio at the age of sixteen. Win Kai Martial Arts soon expanded to three eminent branches in Toronto and New York.

Katheryn Winnick made her television debut as Holly Benson in the syndicated television comedy “Student Bodies,” a recurring role she began to play in January 1999. Later in October 1999, she made a guest appearance as Suzie in an episode of “PSI Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal” called “Sacrifices.” Winnick continued to guest star in other television series such as “Relic Hunter” (2000), “Screech Owls” (2001), “Tracker” (2002), “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” (2002, 2009), “Oz” (2003), “ Wild Card” (2003), “10-8: Officers on Duty” (2003), “CSI: Miami” (2004), “1-800-Missing” (2008), “CSI: NY” (2005), “Criminal Minds” (2006), “House M.D.” (2007), “Law & Order” (2008) and “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” (2009). She also appeared in TV films like “ Trump Unauthorized” (2005), “13 Graves” (2006), “Tipping Point” (2007) and “Law Dogs” (2007).
Winnick made her feature film debut in as Jennifer in “Biohazardous” (2001), a B movie directed and written by Michael J. Hein. From 2010 to 2011, Winnick played the recurring role of Hannah Burley in the Fox hit comedy/drama series “Bones,” starring Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz. She also made a guest appearance as Kat Russo in an episode of “The Gates” called “Identity Crisis” (2010), as Valerie Dorman in the episode “Lost and Found” (2011) of “The Glades” and as Kelly in an episode of “Nikita” called “Partners (2011). On the big screen, Winnick could be seen in “Tranced,” “Killers,” “Radio Free Albemuth,” “Love & Other Drugs,” “Night and Day,” “Choose” (all 2010), and “Bat $#*! Crazy” (2011).
In 2012, Winnick was cast as Ivana in “A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III,” opposite Charlie Sheen, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray and Patricia Arquette. A comedy film directed, written and produced by Roman Coppola., it premiered at the 2012 Rome Film Festival and had a limited theatrical release in the United States on February 8, 2013. She portrayed Oxana in the film “Stand Up Guys” (2012) and Samantha Thomas in the short “Children of the Air” (2012), from which she won the Best Female Performance for Best Actress at the 2012 Beverly Hills Film Festival for her role, as well as had a two episode role as Darcy Daniels in “Transporter: The Series” (2012).
In 2013, Winnick landed the regular role of Lagertha Lothbrok on the Canadian-Irish historical drama television series “Vikings,” which premiered on March 3, 2013 in the United States and Canada on History Channel. The second season is set to premier in February 2014.
Winnick starred as Lola in the comedy film “The Art of the Steal,” which was shown at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival on September 11. Her co-stars in the film included Kurt Russell, Jay Baruchel, Chris Diamantopoulos and Matt Dillon.
